Bielefeld. Mr. Günter Bachmann, member of the Executive Board responsible for technology and production, is retiring at the end of the year. In accordance with the succession plan, his area of responsibility will then fall within the portfolio of board member Christian Thönes.
Günter Bachmann (61) assumed responsibility for the board’s technology and production portfolio in October 2006. Previously, he had served as managing director at the DMG MORI SEIKI group for twelve years. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering at the Chemnitz University of Technology, Bachmann began his career in 1974 in the production department at the company which today is known as DECKEL MAHO Seebach GmbH in Thuringia, Germany. He became head of production in 1985 and managing director of the company in 1994. Under his leadership, DECKEL MAHO Seebach became one of the most modern machine tool manufacturers in East Germany.
During his seven-year tenure as the board member responsible for technology and production, Bachmann built the group’s manufacturing plants into modern high-tech facilities. The modernisation of facilities in Seebach (Germany), Pfronten (Germany), Pleszew (Poland), Tortona (Italy) and Shanghai (China), together with new production processes such as cluster assembly and efficient logistics, led to shorter delivery times.
The Supervisory Board and the Executive Board of DMG MORI SEIKI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT would like to thank Günter Bachmann for his many years of successful work and wish him and his family all the best for the future.
