GILDEMEISTER wins 2004 Innovation Prize

Bielefeld, November 15th. GILDEMEISTER will receive this year’s Innovation Prize from the Federal Association of Purchasing and Supply Management (BME) for its successful purchasing and logistics management system. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Raimund Klinkner, Deputy Chair of the Executive Board of GILDEMEISTER, will this evening accept the most important award in Berlin.

The company will receive the prize for its innovative procurement programme, which has consistently increased the efficiency of purchasing and logistics. The programme is based on three pillars: the coSupply management of suppliers enables supply partners to be integrated into Development and Logistics and thereby also into the value added process. Materials group management has team orientated cooperation between purchasing and technology at its forefront. Integrated “Global Sourcing” ensures that production locations can derive the optimal benefit from the procurement opportunities of the group. “Overall, GILDEMEISTER has established many different logistic networks and thereby remains competitive in the quickly changing global markets”, explains Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klinkner.

The successes of the programme, awarded a prize today, are impressive: As well as reduced storage and materials costs, GILDEMEISTER also profits from the effect of savings realised through standardisation and internationalisation. The long term goal remains to focus on the strengthened partnership framework.
