GILDEMEISTER receives European Award for Logistics

Bielefeld/Marseilles. Following the German Logistics Award 2002 GILDEMEISTER has continued to convince at a European level and has received the ”European Award for Logistics Excellence 2002” for its overall logistic strategy. With this, the highest award in Europe, the jury appreciates enterprises and organisations whose logistic projects and strategies have won awards at a national level. Raimund Klinkner, Doctor of Engineering Science and Chair of Production and Logistics at GILDEMEISTER, received the highly acclaimed award at the 22nd French Congress for Logistics, which took place in Marseilles last night.

The Production and Logistics unit, introduced in 1997, successfully restructured the business processes of the ten GILDEMEISTER production sites. By utilising the logistic potential, the value-added chain could be continuously optimised and considerable cost-cutting measures in the group could be implemented. The transfer of methods from the car industry and the comprehensive use of modern information technologies led to the flexibilisation and acceleration of the production structures along with the integration of suppliers into a group-wide logistics strategy. The logistic reorganisation is an important element in safeguarding the company’s future. Today, GILDEMEISTER stands out against its competition thanks to its logistics programme that has been optimised throughout the group, thereby achieving customer proximity, high innovation rates and flexible production structures.
