Bielefeld. DMG MORI has inaugurated one of the most advanced state-of-the-art production and assembly plants worldwide at a grand opening. The group invests in Ulyanovsk and thus underlines the continued high demand for new technology in Russia.
“Made in Russia” – with this goal DMG MORI produces turning and milling machines from the ECOLINE series with cutting-edge technology. Due to stronger ties with local suppliers, the group has met government requirements specifying high localization levels to promote structural change within the Russian economy. The state-of-the-art mechanical production area has been designed to achieve an annual capacity of 22,500 production hours.
The heart of the 330,000 m² site is a modern, well-equipped production and assembly plant and a state-of-the-art technology and demonstration centre. Engineers at the centre, which covers an area of 640 m², provide permanent on-site presentations and demonstrations for 14 high-tech machines – for test machining, process and time studies. The site is also home to a trend setting energy park which is used to generate up to 15% of the power required at the site.
Ulyanovsk is considered a major industrial centre with a long-established tradition and a key business for the Aerospace and Automotive industries. The new DMG MORI production plant is based in the ‘Sawolzhje’ industrial area – 875 km south-east of Moscow. Altogether, five sales and service companies (Moscow, Ulyanovsk, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk) are responsible for the machine tool market which plays an important strategic role. The group currently employs 186 members of staff in Russia who are key to strengthening positive, long-standing business relationships.
