Bielefeld/Pfronten // High speed even in challenging times: DMG MORI significantly invests in its Pfronten site. At this week’s traditional Open House (11-15 February 2020) the focus is on Automation, Digitization and Additive Manufacturing.
“We have a stable foundation and continue to go full speed ahead despite the economic headwind. That is why we invest in our strategic future fields and consistently align our locations to the production of the future,” says Christian Thönes, Chairman of the Executive Board of DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT. “DMG MORI continues to develop from a machine builder into an integrated solution provider in the manufacturing environment.”
DMG MORI strengthened its location in Pfronten in 2019 with investments of around € 20 million. For example, a new logistics hall was built and the assembly of the monoBLOCK series expanded by 1,200 m². The “Excellence Factory monoBLOCK” will soon be ramped up with a new, pioneering assembly concept: In the future, machines will be manufactured on a driverless transport system (AGV) in a flow assembly. Highly efficient processes ensure a sustainable increase in productivity. In 2020 DMG MORI will invest a double-digit million amount in Pfronten once again.
This week DMG MORI presents 45 high-tech machines and 15 automation solutions. At the traditional Open House, around 8,000 international trade visitors will be greeted by four world premieres: the universal horizontal machining center DMU / DMC 65 H monoBLOCK, the LASERTEC 400 Shape for the laser structuring of workpieces of up to 20,000 kg, the LASERTEC 30 DUAL SLM and the modular PH CELL pallet system for up to 40 pallets.
In the run-up to the Open House today, around 900 schoolchildren gather information about the wide range of training opportunities at the “Training Day”. Here too, the focus is already on digitization. All trainees are schooled in handling TULIP: The software of the US start-up enables users without programming knowledge to create their own APPs quickly and intuitively. The Pfronten site currently employs 1,586 people, thereof 129 trainees.
